The magickal creatures that attack Dracarr are called Magus. There are other magickal creatures in the kingdom that have been there before the Magus, but they are mostly docile and passive and do not attack unless provoked. The hostile creatures that appeared out of nowhere and attack for an unknown reason are bestowed with the ones given the general term "Magus".
Even now, decades later, they are a mystery. Their physical appearances vary, depending on which section of the kingdom they are. Their attacks are also random and they seem to prefer attacking certain areas of the kingdom over others. It is unknown where they come from; they just appear.
Battle against Magus
Rhokins seem to be the only ones capable of slaying the Magus since they possess magick of their own and their physical bodies can withstand direct magick attacks from the Magus creatures. Most people, not even those from the Guard, know why it works, but it just does. The wizard who created the Rhokins is probably the only one that can answer that mystery.
Humans also have a defense against Magus, though it obviously isn't as efficient or powerful as the Rhokins themselves. Guard soldiers usually have Armadura, enchanted weapons and armor that can withstand a certain potency of magick and can that can harm Magus to some extent. After a certain time or after a certain amount of uses, the enchantments will disappear. The king's wizard is also the one behind the Armadura's creation.
Magus Appearances
Orange Magus
A "new" Magus--orange Magus--have been making frequent appearances north of Dracarr. They appear to possess magick, just like regular Magus, but theirs is more powerful; Rhokin have trouble facing them one on one. So far, orange Magus have been seen to have access to the power of ice and water.
Aside from their shared color, the orange Magus seem to have shared similarities in their giant statures and bones--or what appear as bones--can usually be seen poking out of their thin skin. This new breed of creatures seem to possess intelligence and reasoning, but it is to be determined if that is true.
